It's the Eve of Raceday

Tomorrow I am joining several of my friends as we run in the Sun Trust National Half-Marathon.  I won't pretend that I'm ready.  I'm kind of nervous about this one since I haven't been training as much as I have for races in the past.

The race course stretches through Capitol Hill, winds through NW and then slides through my neighborhood before finishing at RFK stadium.

The weather is supposed to be less than ideal (cold and rainy), so I'm reminded of my first race, the 10 mile Cherry Blossom run I did in 2008.  Before the race began, my mom called me and shared Hebrews 12:1-3, which I still remember.  It kept me going as well as Mallory and Marie, who cheered me on despite the dripping rain and cold temperatures.

Tomorrow, I'll begin the run with my friends, but it's a race I must complete on my own.  The pressure is there and one thought prevails "you can always walk."  Here's hoping there's more running, less walking and a shining sun to bring us to the finish line!
